The ISTP's Urban Research Incubator (URI) group produced several interesting pieces of research throughout the last few weeks.
Read Michael Walczak's paper using an automated spatial policy model to assess building reserves that are still available within the current building regulatory framework. He used the Swiss city Lausanne as a case study.
The streets between walls and fences, David Kostenwein investigated how different types of gated communities shape the streets around them. Taking the Colombian capital Bogotá with its 3,500 gated communities as his case study, he created a novel typology focusing on the gated community’s spatial dimension.
How does architecture operate as a security technology? Focusing on the two case studies of Bogotá and Zürich, former ISTP researcher Jonas Hagmann and ISTP PhD candidate David Kostenwein provide new insights into the topic.
