Informal Urbanism Regional
Hub of UN-Habitat Universities
From October 21-24, an exhibition showcasing academic proposals for the Brasilândia region (São Paulo, Brazil) will be held during Latin America Week at the Square building, at the University of Saint Gallen. These proposals envision transforming an abandoned quarry into a park-centrality, surrounded by informal settlements and an under-construction metro line. The projects were developed collaboratively by students from ETH Zurich, the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP), and local partners (Instituto Periferia Sustentável and Movimento em Defesa do Parque Morro Grande).
Students from our SS24 Design Studio whose works feature in the exhibition include: Alexander Glattfelder, Alexander Meier, Aparna Lakshmy, Aurèle Schaub, David Kunz, Galmarini Angela, Herzog Philipp, Irina Burau, Jacqueline Coco, Joel Sichi, Ketsia Wild, Laisa Bispo, Lisa Kammereck, Louis Simillion, Lucia Zeng, Lucija Ratkić, Marielle Lüthy, Martina Taverna, Michelle Ciorciari, Rakan Khattab, Riccardo Tommasino, Roxani Heltriegel, Samuel Hösli, Sandra Gygax, Simon Brunner, and Tobias Hefti.
