The Ministry of Education, the Educational Infrastructure Financing Fund (FFIE), the Mayor's Office of Cartagena, the Santo Domingo Foundation and the Pies Descalzos Foundation led the inaugural event that constitutes the launch of the operation of the Educational Institution of Villas de Aranjuez, with the capacity to serve 960 students each year.

This educational complex, which has an inclusive design, adapted to people with reduced mobility, strengthens the education offer at the service of the community of the entire Barrios Unidos area, made up of the communities of Bicentenario, Villas de Aranjuez, La India, La Sevillana, Flor del Campo and Colombiatón, which welcomes people from all over the Caribbean.

It was designed as part of the Colombia Urban Transformation Program, with the support of: Swiss State Secretariat For Economic Affairs (SECO) / Swiss Government; Municipality of Cartagena; Ministry of Education/ FFIE; Fundación Pies Descalzos (FPD); Fundación Mario Santo Domingo (FMSD); Financial Institution for Development (FINDETER) and Economía Urbana.
