Klumpner Chair PhD Student David Kretzer will give a lecture on lighting and crime (“Beleuchtung und Kriminalität”) on 07 May 2020, participating in the German street lighting symposium “10. Straßenbeleuchtungstage”.
The symposium will be hosted by “Die Netzwerkpartner”, which is an association of over 120 public utility companies, regional suppliers and energy sector cooperations in Germany.
David Kretzer’s lecture will illustrate the current state of research regarding the impact of public lighting on crime and the fear of crime, which includes the influence of ‘smart lighting’ technology. The relationship between lighting and crime plays an important role in David Kretzer’s research on public lighting in Bogotá’s informal settlements.
The symposium had originally be planned to take place in Dortmund. However, due to the current COVID-19 travel restrictions, the symposium will be realised online.
