The Urban Transformation Program Colombia (UTPC) is a collaborative initiative focused on promoting innovative infrastructure prototypes designed to trigger inclusive urban and economic development in
Colombian cities such as Medellín, Barranquilla, and Cartagena, particularly in vulnerable communities. It involves, for the moment, five (5) projects including the Fábrica de Cultura in Barranquilla, the Centro Educativo Villas de Aranjuez in Cartagena, co-created and co-developed with the Universidad del Norte Barranquilla and the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana Medellín, among others. The program seeks to consolidating achievements and transferring know-how to key stakeholders in Colombia in order to maximise the replication potential and sustainability of these infrastructure prototypes.
This program counts with the support of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and makes part of the strategic projects of the Swiss cooperation strategy for Colombia (2025-2028) (https://www.eda.admin.ch/eda/en/fdfa/fdfa/aktuell/dossiers/iza-strategie-2025-28.html), which seeks to promote a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Colombia.
