As it has become both a node of real estate speculation and a demarcation line of socio-economic segregation, the post-socialist Marijin Dvor was examined both through the lens of Néstor Canclini ‘s theory of relationship between globalization-implied consumerism and citizenship, as well as Jürgen Habermas’ classification of the post-secular society as “shopping is the new church” - a drastic shift from the socialist modernist urban design introduced by Neidhardt in 1955.
